Pullai piranthalum

Pullai piranthalum

Translated by
P.R.Ramachander

Vriththam: Ragamalika

Pullaai Piranthaalum Mirugaathin Jananangal Pasi yaari Magizhumandro
Poondai piranthaalum Pulaththiyar Kondu sila Pini Theerthu Magizhar andro
Kallaai Piranthaalum Nallavargal Midhi Kondu Kaathci Koduththidum andro

Even If , I were born as   a lowly grass,
Would I not allievate the hunger  of deer and other animals,
Even if I was    born as a lowly garlic plant ,
would I not make sages  like Pulasthya  happy when I cure their illness?
Even if I were   born a   lowly   stone  and step of a temple
Would I not be stamped by good people and show   the God himself to them.

Kazhudhai uruvaai vanthaalum Aa vena Kaththinaal
Kai kanda sakunam enbaar
Even I had come in the form of a donkey and shout “Aaa”
People    would say    that it is a good omen.

Ellaam ilaamaley Ippiravi thandu ennai
Yenga vittu agala nindraai
Eththanai annayum eththanai thandayum
eththanai piravi varumo ?
allal enum maasu aruthaatkolum deivamey
Appaney Thillai Nagar Vaazh Athipathi Janakaathi Thuthi pathi Sivakaami
Sivakaami Anbil urai natana pathiye...

Without any thing, you gave me,
This birth and stood aloof,
I do not know    how many births,
How many fathers and nothers I will have?
Oh God who  made me yours after removing all worries,
Oh Lord   who lives in Chidambaran  .
Who is praised by   Janaka and others  and the consort  of Goddess  Parvathi
And Oh  Lord of dance   who lives  in the love of Sivakami
